The next generation is upon us in the year 2020. We have seen a launch title for the PlayStation 5 at the Video Game Awards 2019. However, there are things Sony must do in order to make sure the PS5 does well throughout another decade. There are some things they need to get figured out. Some things they did not think through. If Sony wants to take over the next gen, they have to figure things out.

Backwards Compatibility

Backwards compatibility is already a highly crucial thing in the Console market. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ditching backwards compatibility with PS3 and 360 was a mistake. That mistake Microsoft corrected by adding it in later. They made it to where not only Xbox 360 games were playable but Xbox OG games. Sony on the other hand, PlayStation 2 classics on PSStore. Still yet to see PSX classics on there. Don't even bother trying to play PS3 games on PS4 nor even a PS2 or a PSX. PlayStation 3 offered PSX backwards compatibility on discs as well but they abandoned PS2 discs running on a PS3 later on. PS5 needs to have backwards compatibility. Not just backwards compatible with PS4 but from PSX to PS3 alongside. Sony will definitely catch up to Microsoft and the new Xbox if the PS5 can run discs and digital copies from PSX to PS3. Playing all of the Namco Museum PSX collection, Playing PS2 copies of Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Having Folklore from the PS3 era run well, and making sure games like Tetris Effects from PS4 will make PS5 give more reason to get into next gen.

Undo the strict international content policy.
Here is a video uploaded by Censored Gaming discussing the situation and why Sony is doing this.

Sony's decision to implement a strict international policy to crack on suggestive and sexual themes in games was not really a good idea. As explained in Censored Gaming's video, they wish to avoid public and political backlash but Sony can no longer get away with such policy. This situation has put sour tastes in consumers mouths and have left PS4 and even PS4 Pro units collecting dust. Also, any fan of Xbox or Nintendo or even PC can find this and hold it up against PS5. When you have games Custom Order Maid 3D2 on the PC market. Devs can consider the PC gaming market. However, Nintendo had Senran Kagura and Gal*Gun release on the eShop. People can catch on the policy and can even move to Switch or even consider getting a Nvidia GeForce Powered Windows 10 desktop. When you have games like Death Stranding coming to the Steam and Epic Game Store markets, people can feel less of a need for a PS4. The policy must be reversed and things must left up to the ESRB, since they are the guys who figure out the age ratings for the titles.
