Yes, I am going to invest more time and get into more areas when it comes to retro game collecting. However, there is more than ever. I ran into multiple perspectives including doing the preservation by yourself with your retro collection, emulation, and backing up your collection. People have been encouraged to do the same.
I wanted to figure big things out. I pondered with ideas back and forth. Until I made up my mind on what I was going to do. Get back into emulation. How did these retro releases made it on your modern consoles and PC storefront like Steam and GOG? Exactly. Then it hit me. I wanted to approach emulation on a perspective that would act as a means of getting gameplay footage without having to hunt down the best rated upscale output device that is widely available and at the same time, prolong my physical retro collection to last longer for the foreseeable future. What did I found a couple of video tutorials on backing up your retro games. Then I delved more into things, found the gadgets right for me, ran into a few complications, and then I ended up investing more into retro game collecting then previously in my past two to three years. To make this short, the perspective of preservation. Call it part of my home lab stuff if you want. However, it is the idea of preservation and having to sail the seas way less since your collection is right here. You just need to figure out getting the tools.
While I am at it? Quick update on the lounge.
This is going to mean that there will (especially still) be more than ever guaranteed when it comes to Video Game Classics. Also, no need to rely on remasters and re-release collections on modern consoles. Doesn't mean we are leaving out games. If the game is available today with no complications for a more convenient way, I will bring it to light. The lounge has been lately relying on remasters in terms of video game classics videos and that is a good way to bring more balance.
What also does this mean?
Retro game collecting will be focused more than ever on my end. I ended up making a new and more expanded list of games I want to collect and especially preserve. Building up my retro collection more and playing around more on emulation is going to be the thing with me now. With that said, I am realizing that later down the line, I could go more into the technical and advanced aspects like for example, jailbreaking and modifying a PSP. If it means opening a can of worms or a crate full of gopher snakes, so be it.
Why did I decide on this?
The idea of a looming video game downfall. A lot of games released today are going to have not only quality control thrown out of the window but fun and creativity. Censorship of content regardless of an age rating is going to get worse. While mobile gacha games become less subject to scrutiny at most, there are people that can only handle few at a time. Remasters and re-releases has been lately suffering from meddling and people have been doing a bad job lately. Also, I have my retro games collection right where I am at. It was a matter finding solutions to prolong and preserve in or have it last longer for the foreseeable future.
In conclusion, VIDEO GAMES PRESERVATION IS A BIG DEAL!
If it means you have to take matters into your own hands, have to preserve the games you have or wanna play by yourself, or by other means you can, then so be it. With the dark direction where things start to go haywire, it seems that you roll the gacha or you go retro (probably both) in today's day and age until you find something that is worth not just the money, but the time and effort. Finding a game is tough because you have to make sure you trust your time with the game or else, all the time and effort will go to waste resulting in the detective work that you will need to do. That said, I am more centered into the retro game collection again and will be overdoing things by making the bigger expansions to the best of my ability.
