Why do we wish to be RETRO collectors?

I really ended up thinking I was going to stick with the present timeline of games and be fine moving forward. Not really, I ended up learning otherwise the hard way. Since the realization, I ended up getting a Dreamcast to get started on the way back to the past. Not all games get remastered or picked up by Hamster. Retro gaming has been taking off obviously. Either emulator or the authentic way, we all go back to the past to either play what we loved or what we missed out on. Your local retro shops are not the only people aware of that. Hamster has been getting things out there in the Arcade Archives lineup. Nintendo, Sega, Retro-Bit, and SNK have been release micro plug-and-play consoles. Nintendo has all you can play NES and SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online members. Everybody seems to be aware of our tastes of nostalgia....well, almost everyone. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to go back to the past and rediscover or check out what we missed out on. There are many factors that motivate the retro scene.

Where is Byte? (aka Vine 2)

Is it just me or has anyone been wondering when is the release of that app? It seems that since it's news on the beta testing, Byte has gone quiet for long. It feels like it has been months and since the new decade, the silence has been extended. We are talking about the creators taking the time to get the app programed good enough in order to get it launching smoothly. It is a mystery. As I said in one of my videos, when Byre releases, I will get on that and start posting content there.

Plans for Videos and the Blog.

It is time to get into a discussion regarding the blog and my videos on YouTube. It is a challenge to post content on YouTube, Storyfire, Twitter, TikTok, and this blog. I am pretty sure there are other platforms I left out. Oh yeah, I'll talk about "that" in another post. But hey, I figured let's use this blog as a means to update on the channel as well. Keeps this blog active anyway. That being said, let's go into what I have planned and what is going on...

Backwards compatibility on Xbox 2020 (Series X)

NOTE: There has been popular buzz regarding the name of the next generation Xbox. Due to this, I have wish to play safe and title the next gen, Xbox 2020 or XB20. That stated, just remember I meant the Xbox Series X and that other model we probably don't know about.

I wish to go ahead and make discussion in regards to Xbox 2020 and it's plans for backwards compatibility. Backwards compatibility is very wise to be implemented in any next gen console to this point. The lack of such in the last gen was met with not so pleasant reactions. However, if it is once again, not to be implemented. There will be more backlash than expected. First off, Xbox One games and content to not be brought over to XB2020 can be a high detriment. Yes, it is best to keep the last gen just in case.

However, if servers shut down for Xbox One go off then how will many access the digital goods and titles if the consumers are steered, especially unwilling, into digital distribution? The meaning of owning a game physically was reduced when the disc required the same amount of storage space in the console hard drive as if you were to buy the game off of the Xbox Marketplace. The same was being said about the PlayStation 4. That said, Xbox One compatibility is a no brainier but that should mean all Xbox One discs, content, and digital copies. NO COMPATIBILITY LISTS!

If we are to talk about Xbox 2020 running games for Xbox (classic) and Xbox 360, all games and game discs should be considered as well. This will be a very big deal. Why? Because Xbox 2020 can become also a 4-in-1 machine for the retro collectors and owners who have or found their old games for Xbox (classic) and Xbox 360. If the backwards compatibility can extend to all games for Xbox (Classic), Xbox 360, and Xbox One, this will net extra units sold to help out Microsoft. That being said, NO COMPATIBILITY LISTS as well!

Backwards compatibility is a really big deal. It was a big thing for all of console gaming. If people had no problem playing any PSX disc on a PS2 or a PS3, then Xbox should have no problem. If someone can invent the emulator, there should be no problem. Besides, extra units sold...just saying.
